The Partagas D4 Box of 10 is one of the most popular and practical ways to enjoy Cuba’s legendary robusto. Also known as the Partagas Serie D No. 4, this classic full-bodied cigar has earned its reputation as the benchmark against which all other Cuban robustos are measured. Each stick measures 4⅞ inches (124 mm) with a 50-ring gauge and delivers a rich, complex smoke lasting between 45 and 60 minutes.
For UK smokers who prefer to buy in sensible quantities rather than a full box of 25, the Partagas D4 Box of 10 UK offers the perfect balance of quality, quantity and value. Whether you are stocking your humidor, treating yourself regularly, or looking for an impressive gift, this format is ideal.
The Partagas story begins in 1845 when Don Jaime Partagás y Ravell opened the famous Partagás factory at No. 520 Industria Street in the heart of Havana. The factory quickly became one of the most important cigar production centres in Cuba and remains a place of pilgrimage for cigar lovers to this day.
Partagas has always been known for its full-flavoured, earthy and spicy character. The tobaccos that give the brand its unmistakable identity come from the legendary Vuelta Abajo region in Pinar del Río — widely regarded as the finest tobacco-growing area in the world.
The Serie D range was originally introduced in the 1930s, primarily for the British market. By the 1960s most sizes had been discontinued, but demand for the robusto format grew strongly in the mid-1970s. In 1975 Habanos reintroduced the Serie D No. 4 as a permanent production cigar. It has remained one of the highest-volume Cuban exports ever since and is consistently ranked among the top-selling Habanos worldwide. Partagas D4 Box of 10
Buying the Partagas D4 Box of 10 gives you several clear advantages:
Many UK aficionados prefer the box of 10 format precisely because it offers flexibility while still delivering genuine Cuban quality. Partagas D4 Box of 10
Each cigar in the Partagas D4 Box of 10 UK features a slightly oily Colorado to Colorado Maduro wrapper with a smooth texture and minimal veins. The triple cap is neatly applied and the cigar feels firm and well-packed from head to foot — a hallmark of quality Cuban construction.
Cold aromas from the wrapper and foot typically offer notes of cedar, earth, cocoa and a gentle barnyard sweetness. Once lit, the draw is usually ideal: firm enough to concentrate flavour yet open enough to produce generous, creamy smoke. The burn is generally even, and the ash tends to be firm and light grey to white.
First Third The opening of a Partagas Serie D No. 4 is immediately recognisable. Rich earth and toasted tobacco arrive first, quickly joined by a classic Partagas spice note — black pepper and a touch of paprika on the retrohale. Creamy roasted hazelnuts, leather and a subtle milk-chocolate sweetness begin to emerge. Some smokers also detect a yeasty sourdough or toasted-bread character that is unique to the Partagas house style.
Second Third As the cigar moves into its middle section the flavour profile deepens and broadens. Leather becomes more prominent, supported by dark cocoa, espresso and roasted nuts. The earthy base remains constant while the spice softens into a warm, peppery glow. Cedar and wood notes gain strength, and a gentle floral or herbal edge can sometimes appear on the retrohale. Body and strength continue to build steadily toward the full end of the spectrum..
Final Third The last third is where many enthusiasts feel the cigar truly rewards patience. Notes of coffee, bittersweet chocolate, seasoned oak and lingering spice dominate. A long, dry cedar finish often remains on the palate well after the final puff. Strength reaches its peak here, yet the balance is maintained so that the experience stays enjoyable down to the nub.
Several factors explain the enduring popularity of the Partagas D4:
It is frequently described as “the robusto of choice for the majority of aficionados” and regularly scores in the low-to-mid 90s from major publications.
