About the Guantanamera Brand Guantanamera was introduced to the international market in 2002 and quickly became one of the best-known modern Cuban brands. Named after the famous Cuban song “Guajira Guantanamera”, the brand was created to offer genuine Cuban tobacco at a more accessible price point. Unlike many traditional Habanos that use long-filler, hand-rolled construction, Guantanamera cigars are machine-made. This allows consistent quality and a milder strength profile while still using 100% Cuban leaf.

The tobacco for the Guantanamera Cristales comes from the Vuelta Arriba region of Cuba. While Vuelta Abajo is more famous for premium long-filler cigars, Vuelta Arriba produces excellent leaf that delivers the classic Cuban flavour characteristics in a lighter, more approachable style. The shorter ageing and short-filler construction result in a milder smoke that many beginners find easier to enjoy than fuller-bodied Cuban cigars..

Construction and Presentation Each Guantanamera Cristales is machine-made for consistency and presented in its own clear plastic tube. The tube protects the cigar during storage and transport, helping to maintain freshness and humidity for longer periods. Because the cigar is pre-cut, it is ready to light straight from the tube — no cutter is needed. This makes the Guantanamera Cristales single particularly convenient for casual smoking, travel, or occasions where simplicity is preferred.

The size (5⅞″ × 41) places it in the long corona / cristales format. It offers a comfortable smoking time of around 30–45 minutes for most smokers, making it suitable for a mid-morning break, after a meal, or as an easy introduction to Cuban tobacco.

Flavour Profile The Guantanamera Cristales is mild in strength and medium in body. Typical tasting notes reported by smokers include:

• Light cedar and wood
• Cream and soft sweetness
• Gentle earth and honey
• Subtle coffee and toasted notes as the cigar progresses

The draw is generally easy and the burn is consistent thanks to the machine-made construction. The overall experience is smooth and undemanding, without the intensity or complexity that some find overwhelming in stronger Cuban cigars. This is why the Guantanamera Cristales is frequently recommended as a mild Cuban cigar for beginners or as a daily smoker for those who prefer lighter strength.

Who Is the Guantanamera Cristales For? This single cigar is an excellent choice for:

• Smokers trying Cuban cigars for the first time
• Those who prefer mild to light strength
• Anyone looking for a convenient, pre-cut, tubed Cuban cigar
• Occasional smokers or gift buyers seeking an affordable authentic Cuban option

Many UK retailers position the Guantanamera Cristales as the ideal “starter” or “everyday” Cuban cigar. It offers a clear taste of Cuban tobacco character while remaining approachable and reasonably priced compared with traditional hand-rolled Habanos.
