Welcome to the refined world of the Cohiba Exquisitos 5 Pack, one of the most elegant and sought-after short-format Cuban cigars available to UK aficionados. This carefully curated pack of five delivers the unmistakable signature of the world’s most prestigious Habano brand in a convenient, perfectly proportioned smoke that fits seamlessly into modern life without sacrificing an ounce of quality or complexity.
Whether you are a seasoned collector or discovering the legendary Cohiba marque for the first time, the Cohiba Exquisitos 5 Pack offers an exceptional introduction to the brand’s classic Línea Clásica range. Measuring approximately 5 inches (125–126 mm) in length with a slender 33–36 ring gauge, these Seoane-format cigars are designed for those moments when time is limited yet the desire for genuine Cuban excellence remains strong. Expect a satisfying 20–30 minute experience that still delivers the full depth and creaminess that has made Cohiba the gold standard among Cuban cigars.
The story of Cohiba is inseparable from the modern history of Cuban tobacco. Created in 1966 at the exclusive request of President Fidel Castro, the brand was initially reserved solely for diplomatic gifts and the highest levels of Cuban government. Production took place in complete secrecy at the now-famous El Laguito factory on the outskirts of Havana. Only in 1982 were Cohiba cigars released to the public, immediately establishing themselves as the pinnacle of Habanos craftsmanship.
The name “Cohiba” itself carries deep cultural resonance. It is derived from an ancient Taíno Indian word describing the bundles of tobacco leaves that Christopher Columbus observed the indigenous people of Cuba smoking – the earliest recorded form of the Habano. Today, Cohiba remains the flagship brand of Habanos S.A., representing the absolute “selection of the selection” of tobacco from the finest vegas de primera in the San Juan y Martínez and San Luis districts of the legendary Vuelta Abajo region.
What truly sets Cohiba apart from every other Cuban marca is its unique third fermentation process. While all Habanos undergo two fermentations, selected Cohiba filler leaves – the seco, ligero, and the rare medio tiempo – receive an additional fermentation in wooden barrels. This exclusive technique imparts the extraordinary smoothness, aromatic complexity, and creamy texture that define every true Cohiba cigar. The Cohiba Exquisitos benefits fully from this meticulous process, concentrating the brand’s signature character into a shorter, more accessible format.
The Exquisitos was introduced as part of Cohiba’s original commercial series, the Línea Clásica. It quickly became a favourite of Emilia Tamayo, the first woman ever to manage a Havana cigar factory and former director of El Laguito. Her preference for this elegant Seoane vitola speaks volumes about its balance and refinement.
In the Cohiba Exquisitos 5 Pack you receive five individually protected cigars, each hand-rolled totalmente a mano with long filler (tripa larga). The construction is typically excellent, offering a consistent draw and an even burn that produces a firm, light-grey ash. The wrapper is a rich, oily Corojo leaf that glows with the classic Cuban sheen, promising both visual appeal and a smooth, flavourful smoke.
This is not a light or mild cigar. Officially classified as medium to full strength, the Exquisitos packs a surprising amount of character into its slender frame. It is ideal for morning coffee, a mid-afternoon break between meetings, a post-dinner walk, or any occasion when you want the true Cohiba experience without committing to a 60- or 90-minute smoke.
From the cold draw, the Cohiba wwalready reveals its pedigree. Expect notes of cedar, black honey, and a gentle grassy freshness that is classic to the brand. Once lit, the first third opens with a creamy, slightly sweet profile featuring roasted coffee, light cocoa, and toasted nuts. The smoke is voluminous yet refined, coating the palate with a luxurious texture that only the third fermentation can produce.
As the cigar progresses into the second third, the flavours deepen. Woody spiciness emerges alongside hints of leather, almond, and a touch of baking spice. The grassiness that many aficionados associate with Cohiba becomes more pronounced, balanced by a growing sweetness reminiscent of honey and caramel. The draw remains open and effortless, allowing the complex layers to unfold without effort. Cohiba Exquisitos 5 Pack
The final third intensifies without becoming harsh. Notes of dark coffee, cedar, and a subtle peppery spice dominate, while the creamy backbone prevents any bitterness. The finish is clean, dry, and lingering – a hallmark of high-quality Cuban tobacco. Many smokers find the entire experience pairs beautifully with an espresso, a glass of aged rum, or simply a quiet moment of reflection.
Independent reviews frequently praise the Exquisitos for delivering “creamy, nutty smoke rich with notes of almonds and salt” and for offering “plenty of rich Cuban character” in a short format. Cigar Aficionado has awarded strong scores to this vitola over the years, confirming its place among the most consistently enjoyable smaller Habanos.
These specifications make the Cohiba Exquisitos 5 Pack particularly versatile. It is substantial enough to satisfy experienced smokers yet approachable enough for those exploring premium Cuban cigars for the first time. Cohiba Exquisitos 5 Pack
